Broken Repair
Broken Repair
2026

A fun and somewhat nerve-wracking project, for some, was this breaking and repairing of a terra cotta pot. The nerve-wracking part was involved in the breaking part- how many pieces were you going to end up with? Technique in the breaking process became a guessing game and somewhat calculated approach as to avoid too many pieces to put back together. I ended up lucky I think, ending up with 9 pieces to work with.
The idea is in planning out the repair, how best to strategically piece together the object while maintaining as much of its integrity as possible. This involved numbering the pieces and drawing out a process or diagram to demonstrate approach. I thought I was golden until I left myself with a couple pieces I glued together at the end that were pointy and were a bit off when placing the final piece. Rule of thumb, pointy, sharp angle pieces are challenging to place, so make sure you don't leave those to the end.
